Statement of Principles of Museum Documentation

This document was first drafted immediately after the 2004 CIDOC Conference in Seoul. It was discussed and updated at the 2005 and 2006 meetings of the Documentation Standards Working Group, and then brought into its current format prior to the 2007 meeting.

The role of the Statement of Principles of Museum Documentation is to state the reasons why museum collections should be adequately documented. It aims to provide museum managers and funding bodies with cogent reasons to ensure that museum documentation systems are properly set up and adequately resourced.
