Information Centres

One of the current aims of the Information Centres Working Group is to intensify networking between institutions which support museum documentation in different countries around the world. There are several institutions like CHIN, Canada, Collections Trust, UK, SIG Documentation of the German Museum Association, Germany, MDC, Croatia and others. By learning which references, resources and instruments are offered by those institutions and organisations we want to spread expertise. We also discuss joint initiatives, such as causing translations of what has been achieved in one country to be distributed in other countries, and looking for further synergies.

Another aim is to bring together statistical data available on museums in the world – based on the activities which have been done by EGMUS – the European Group an Museum Statistics (http://www.egmus.eu).
