Velika nam je čast i zadovoljstvo pozvati vas na Godišnju konferenciju Komiteta za dokumentaciju CIDOC Međunarodnog komiteta za muzeje ICOM, koja će se održati od 24. – 27. svibnja 2005. godine u Zagrebu, glavnome gradu Republike Hrvatske. Konferencija će se održati pod pokroviteljstvom Ministarstva kulture Republike Hrvatske i Gradskog ureda za kulturu Grada Zagreba.
Muzej grada Zagreba i Muzejski dokumentacijski centar kao organizatori Konferencije učinit će sve da ovaj veliki skup bude uspješan i nezaboravan. Organizatori su posebno motivirani, jer žele ovom Konferencijom radno obilježiti i uveličati svoje značajne obljetnice, predstavljajući u najboljem svjetlu kulturno-povijesnu baštinu i muzejsku struku Grada Zagreba i Republike Hrvatske. Muzej grada Zagreba, koji je prije nekoliko godina potpuno obnovio svoj arhitektonski kompleks i muzeološku koncepciju stalnog postava, slavit će 2007. godine stotu obljetnicu, dok ce Muzejski dokumentacijski centar upravo 2005. godine navršiti 50 godina djelovanja kao središnja hrvatska ustanova za unapređenje muzejske djelatnosti.
Muzeologija ima dugu tradiciju u Hrvatskoj. Začetke stvaranja prvih muzejskih zbirki bilježimo već u razdoblju humanizma i renesanse, a prvi javni muzej osnovan je 1750. godine u Splitu. Zagreb je svoj prvi muzej dobio 1846. godine. Danas u Hrvatskoj djeluje 146 muzeja, od toga 23 u Zagrebu, pored kojih postoji još sedamdesetak crkvenih zbirki kao i veliki broj privatnih kolekcija. Odmah po stjecanju državne nezavisnosti 1991. godine osnovan je i naš Hrvatski nacionalni komitet ICOM, koji vrlo aktivno djeluje i okuplja oko 100 institucionalnih i individualnih članova. Godine 2000. održan je u Zagrebu, upravo u Muzeju grada Zagreba, skup CEICOM-a.
It is our very great pleasure and honour to invite you to the Annual Conference of the Committee for Documentation, CIDOC, of the International Council of Museums, ICOM, to be held from May 24-27, 2005 in Zagreb, capital of the Republic of Croatia. This conference will be held with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the Zagreb Municipal Office for Culture.
The Zagreb City Museum and the Museum Documentation Centre, the organisers of the conference, will do their very best to make this major conference successful and indeed unforgettable. The organisers are particularly highly motivated, because they would like the conference to commemorate and enhance their important anniversaries, presenting the cultural and historical heritage and the museum profession of the city of Zagreb and the Republic of Croatia in the best possible light. Zagreb City Museum, which a few years ago renovated its architectural complex and the museum concept of the permanent display, will be celebrating its centenary in 2007, while the Museum Documentation Centre will actually in 2005 conclude half a century of work in which it has become the central establishment in Croatia aimed at the advancement of the work of museums and museologists.
Deeply convinced of the people-centred mission of the museum, serving the community by the dissemination of the most diverse of contents, we have placed at the centre of interest of this conference the user of museum documentation. Because what can possibly be the purpose of museum documentation if it does not serve the community and individuals of very different orientations and professions? Accordingly, the main theme of this conference is “Documentation and Users”, to which a few thematic subgroups have been proposed. But the list is in no way exhaustive, and any contribution capable of helping museum experts in their responsible mission will be warmly and sincerely welcomed. We hope that the topic of the conference will afford all the attendees a chance to present and exchange experience and know-how, and open up opportunities for cooperation in museum projects irrespective of borders, whether political or cultural.
